The church has an unbuttressed tower with features of the Early English style of architecture and some fifteenth century with knapped flints. All the windows of the nave are Perpendicular.

Erected at the end of the 14th century a truly big Perpendicular decorated Church, that dwarfs the small village of Cawston. The tower stands at 120 feet. A deeply moulded doorway with a wodehouse or wild man and a dragon.

For those coming to look for 'a Norfolk village', the search is rewarded at Little Barningham. It gently straddles a small valley, with the Church on a mound overlooking the single street, a steam passing through and some forty houses dotting the road.

There is a record of a priest for Aylsham in 1066 with the Saxon name of Brithric. The current church was started about 1270 during the decorated period. John of Gaunt who owned Aylsham is credited with the building of the church.

Whitwell Station & Railway was reopened in Feb 2009 50 years after closing, it has a Steam engine running on the 1st Sunday of each month we also have a Diesel engine. We have refreshments available, a shop and a Museum.
