Originally built in 1857 as a Com Hall, the Town Hall has had a variety of
uses including a court, and is now used as a community hall by a vast number of
clubs, organisations and commercial companies.
You can hire the main hall and kitchen, the Green Room (a small meeting room
for up to 20 people) or the whole of the ground floor. The overall limit for a
function using the whole ground floor is ISO people. The Council Chamber is on
the first floor, and this, too, is available for meetings - seating for 15
people around the "council table."
Equipment is included in the hire fees. There is a PA system complete with
hearing loop in the main hall, and demountable, flexible staging. Current plans
are for an oven and a dishwasher in the main hall kitchen. The entrance foyer is
suitable for wheelchair access and there is a ramp into the hall itself.
Cloakrooms include a wheelchair accessible facility. There are two sizes of
folding table for flexibility of use.
The Green Room is ideal for that smaller, more informal meeting, and has a
small kitchenette for making tea/coffee. Optics are also provided in the
kitchenette for those occasions when the Green Room is used as a bar for
functions in the main hall.
The Town Hall currently does not have an alcohol licence - those wishing to
run a bar serving alcohol or to include alcohol as part of an overall ticket
price for an event will need to obtain a Temporary Event Notice from Broadland
District Council. Advice will be given at the time of booking and the relevant
forms are available from the Council office.
To book any of the rooms, please contact Hilary McCann at the Town Council
office, who will be pleased to supply a list of hire charges, tours and general
advice on the facilities available.
