Aylsham Twinning, It's All About Friendship

Aylsham Twinning started in 1998, to establish a twinning link with a European country. In July 1999 the first delegation was welcomed from what was to become our twin town, La Chaussée-St-Victor, near the city of Blois, on the River Loire in France.

They were delighted with Aylsham and after a return visit that September it was clear that friendships had already been established. Twinning plans began, culminating in the formal Twinning Agreement at the Aylsham Show in August 2000, attended by S3 French visitors, all staying with local families. Reciprocal formalities in La Chaussée that October were attended by 63 Aylsham people.

Each year since then there has been at least one group visit one way or the other - with smaller visits for special occasions and countless personal exchanges - everyone always being welcomed into each others' homes.

New individual members and families are always welcomed who share the aims of the organization, i.e. to promote and foster friendship and understanding between the people of Aylsham and the peoples of European neighbours, particularly within twinning and friendship links.

The association also provides a busy social calendar, to help foster friendships within the membership, and to encourage others to support the association in its aims, and is happy to facilitate links and exchanges between our town's clubs and organisations and their counterparts in and around La Chaussée-St-Victor.

There is a slowly developing friendship with Ochtendung in Germany, the other twin town of La Chaussée-St-Victor.
