The Aylsham Partnership was originally formed in 2001 to implement the Market
Towns Initiative in Aylsham. The Partnership includes elected members of County,
District and Parish/Town Councils in the Aylsham County Council Division and
representatives of other statutory bodies and community organisations.
The Market Towns Initiative finished in 2004 but the Partnership successfully
bid for funding to take part in the Cittaslow pilot project and to sustain work
on traffic management and heritage. Since 2005, Broadland District Council
continues to support the Partnership with funding for the Project Officer until
2007.
The Partnership is going through the process of becoming a company limited by
guarantee with charitable status and is working on developing a museum and
acquiring additional amenity land for the town.
The Partnership Office at I Burgh Road typifies the emphasis on heritage as
it brought back into use an empty property at one of die most important gateways
to the town centre.
