Aylsham Recreation Ground, "The Rec" |
Aylsham Recreation Ground is a very popular and important part of the
community, not only for sports teams but for families using the play areas,
teenagers with the skateboard park - and just somewhere for people to sit and
talk. The history of the Roc is given elsewhere in this Guide.
Aylsham Wanders FC has 3 Saturday teams. Aylsham Sunday FC 3, Aylsham Feathers
OB FC also run a Sunday team and the 2 oldest Youth teams all share the 3 football pitches on the Rec.
Aylsham St. Giles and the Legionnaires share the ever improving cricket
square over the summer weekends and the Aylsham Tennis Club play on 4 new all weather hard courts. The public may also play on these courts for a small fee.
The Aylsham Bowls Club has the use and the pleasure of playing on a county
standard bowls green.
Representatives from all these clubs, plus representatives from the
skateboard park users and the Town Council make up the Management Committee of
this registered charity, and provide support and self-help to keep all the
facilities on this splendid asset to the town in top class condition for their
